Case Discussion

Often scapular fractures are missed or overlooked in traumatic events. CT is the gold standard for diagnosis for any suspected glenoid fractures. Extra-articular scapular fractures are often not treated surgically while internal fixation is required for displaced intra-articular fractures of the glenoid particularly when the step off is greater than 5 mm for risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Osteosynthesis aims to reduce and fix the fracture with restoration of the joint surface.
