Presentation

Left knee trauma three days ago.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Lateral tibial plateau fracture noted showing intra-articular extension.
No fracture in the rest of the bones.
No joint dislocation seen.

Left tibial lateral plateau fracture is seen: splitting and depression of the lateral tibial plateau

Medial tibial plateau is normal.

Left tibio-fibular joint is unremarkable.

Visualized parts of proximal right tibia and fibula are normal, showing normal aspect of tibio-fibular joint.

Note is made for diffuse vascular calcifications.

About 1.3 cm depression of the lateral tibial plateau surface is noted.

Case Discussion

According to Schatzker classification, when there is splitting and depression of the lateral tibial plateau; it is classified as type II, namely as type I fracture with a depressed component as in current case.
