10 year-old boy with recurrent backaches.

Patient Data

Age: 10
Gender: Male
Modality: MRI

T2 signal loss of four adjacent thoracic disk segments with Schmorl nodes and hyperintense bone oedema of the vertebral bodies Th7-9. 

Case Discussion

A rare example of Scheuermann disease "caught in the act", that may eventually result in kyphosis. Also note the persisting neurocentral synchondroses typical for that age.
