Presentation

Thoracic kyphosis for evaluation.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

There is a slight scoliosis of the mid and lower thoracic spine concave to the left. Mild thoracic kyphosis. 

 

Modality: MRI

Normal segmental vertebral anatomy. Very mild lower thoracic spine scoliosis. Thoracic kyphosis (60 degrees) centred on T7 with anterior wedging from T5-T7. Elsewhere in the body height and intravertebral disc space height is normal. Marrow signal is normal. Lower thoracic Schmorl's nodes. 

Conclusion:

Thoracic kyphoscoliosis consistent with Scheuermann disease.

Case Discussion

This is a case of Scheuermann disease, with a thoracic kyphosis and anterior wedging of three vertebral thoracic vertebrae.
