The MRI images demonstrate a left frontal parenchymal cleft extending from the cortical surface to the lateral ventricle. There is a localized area where both sides of the cleft are in contact with no CSF (cleft walls in apposition), lined by abnormal grey matter (polymicrogyria). The right frontal cortex appears abnormally thick, may represents pachygyria.
The septum pellucidum is absent with small optic chiasma, most likely representing associated septo-optic dysplasia.

Case Discussion
This case illustrates the typical appearances of schizencephaly (closed-lip type) with associated ipsilateral polymicrogyria and contralateral pachygyria. The absence of the septum pellucidum with small optic chiasma represents most likely an associated septo-optic dysplasia which is a common association.
