Schwannoma (brachial plexus)

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis almost certain
mri

Selected images from an MRI of the brachial plexus demonstrate a very well circumscribed enhancing lesion inline with the brachial plexus. A second elongated enhancing lesion along the C7 nerve root suggests that both lesions are schwannomas.

Case Discussion

The patient went on to have a biopsy which confirmed the diagnosis of a schwannoma. The presence of a second probable schwannoma on the right C7 nerve root raises the possibility of neurofibromatosis type 2.
