  • hypoplastic right lung with ipsilateral mediastinal shaft.

  • Anomalous fissures and lobes in the right lung

  • Anomalus right pulmonary vein giving the "Scimitar appearance". This narrows proximal to its junction with the IVC

  • Smaller anomalous pulmonary vein draining the medial right lung base which also appears to join the IVC

Scimitar syndrome, also known as hypogenetic lung syndrome, is characterized by a hypoplastic lung that is drained by an anomalous vein into the systemic venous system.
