Age: 20 years

Scoliosis of the spine with convexity to the right side and apex at T8. Cobb's angle is measured at 25°.

There is also scoliosis of the lumbar spine with convexity towards the right side. Its apex is at L2/3 level.

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates S-shaped thoracolumbar scoliosis. The measured Cobb's angle at the dorsal curvature is 25°. Scoliosis is defined as lateral spinal curvature with a Cobb angle of 10° or more. Surgical management is usually necessary if Cobb's angle is more than 50°.
