The ultrasound study reveals linear echogenic undulating membranes within an anechoic area.

The anechoic area is a dilated lymphatic vessel measuring approximately 8 mm.

The linear echogenic areas represent the microfilariae.

They are exibiting what is known as the "filarial dance sign".

The yellow arrows show the dilated channels and the red arrow points out the microfilariae.

Case Discussion

This is a case of scrotal filariasis.

This parasitic infestation of the scrotal lymphatics is caused by Wuchereria Bancrofti.

These microfilaria form nests in the lymphatic channels causing them to dilate.

This patient also had hydrocoele on both sides.
