Presentation

Painless left upper neck swelling for long duration showing mildly increased size over last few months.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Left lateral neck cystic lesion located posterior to the angle of the mandible and lateral to the carotid vessels.

Case Discussion

Second branchial cleft cysts are the most common branchial cleft anomalies. The characteristic location is at the angle of the mandible. Although congenital pathology, the presentation is usually during adulthood with neck swelling. Pain may be the presentation when infected.
