Painful swelling below the left mandibular angle.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined cystic lesion with a relatively thick regular wall and hypoechoic content with internal debris.
Well circumscribed cystic lesion with homogeneous hypotense content and peripheral enhancement, located below the left mandibular angle, lateral to the carotid vessels and internal jugular vein, and anteromedial to the sternocleidomastoid muscle.
Case Discussion
CT features are most consistent with an infected second branchial cleft cyst type II according to Bailey classification of second branchial cleft cysts.
In this location, the main differential diagnosis is cystic lymph nodes
