Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax

Presentation

Shortness of breath ?infective exacerbation of COPD.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

Moderate sided right pneumothorax.

Emphysematous changes in both lungs, with large bullae at both bases.

Case Discussion

Emphysema is a common cause of secondary spontaneous pneumothoraces. Increasing age is also a risk factor.
