Presentation
Lower abdominal pain. History of lower urinary tract infection and type II diabetes.
Patient Data
Increase in the size of the seminal vesicle on the left side, with inflammatory changes in the density of adjacent fat. In the post-contrast images peripheral enhancement is appreciated. Dimensions of the vesicle 41 mm x 30 mm x 22 mm, with an estimated volume of 12 cc. Urinary catheter installed in the bladder. Other findings are the changes associated with a previous fracture of the right ischium, as well a levoconvex lumbar scoliosis. Intra-abdominal free fluid.
Case Discussion
In radiological imaging, peripheral enhancement around a collection of fluid can often refer to an abscess in the appropriate clinical setting. Other data that support this possibility by diagnostic images are the increase in the volume of a structure and the inflammatory changes in the fat that surrounds it. The presented image shows this series of findings, reason why it is highly suggestive of an abscess of the left seminal vesicle.
