Septate uterus with hemorrhagic ovarian cyst

Presentation

Left lower abdominal pain

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Female

The uterus appears normal in size with two horns, single fundus with separate endometrial cavities and common cervix.

There is a well-defined ovoid cystic lesion in the left ovary which exhibits a high signal on T1 fat sat, and T2WI with hypointense sediment indicating blood products. The postcontrast sequences show regular peripheral enhancement. 

The right ovary appears normal in size with numerous follicles.

Case Discussion

MRI features of a left hemorrhagic ovarian cyst with partial septate uterus (incidental finding).

Septate uterus is considered as the commonest uterine anomaly associated with reproductive failure in about 67%. It is classified as a class V Mullerian duct anomaly.
