An athletic boy with chronic pain in the right heel. Ultrasound of the Achilles tendon showed no pathology.

MRI shows signal loss on T1-weighted and hyperintense signal on STIR images.

Case Discussion

Sever disease is a self-limiting traction apophysitis of the growing skeleton, that may occur in physically active children before closure of the calcaneal apophysis.
