Chordae tendineae attached mainly to a single papillary muscle (parachute mitral valve).
Thin mitral membrane

Left ventricular outflow tract partially obstructed by the ventricular septum; notice the flow artifact -occurs at a valvular level due to a bicuspid aortic valve. Severe ductal aortic coarctation associated with dilated mammary artery and scapular collaterals.

Shone syndrome is a sporadic congenital heart disease involving four congenital left-sided cardiac anomalies:

  • coarctation of the aorta
  • mitral parachute valve
  • supravalvular mitral ring
  • subaortic stenosis
