  • intra-articular fracture of the base of the proximal phalanx of the middle finger showing mild bone displacement
  • short 5th metacarpal bone
  • erosive osteoarthritic changes of distal interphalangeal joints of the fingers

Isolated shortening of the 5th metacarpals has been recently described in a familial variant of type A diabetes mellitus 1
