Shoulder sonography multiple tendon tear

Presentation

90 / Lean and thin lady. H/o Snapping sound left shoulder follow by soft tissue swelling in proximal - mid arm anteriorly.

Case Discussion

USG -

LEFT - Ruptured long head of biceps with surrounding haematoma              resulting in ' Popeye arm '      

            - Massive tear supra-spinatous tendon

             - Tear of infrapsinatous

             - Subscapularis thinned out - ? Degeneration / ? tear.

             - Effusion in bursa as well as joint.

 RIGHT - Examined for comparison

               - Retracted supraspinatous tendon 24 mm.

BILATERAL - Fatty infiltration as well as atrophy of supra spinatous and                       infraspinatous muscle bellies
