Shoulder ultrasound - supraspinatus identification (illustration)

Case contributed by David Gendy
Diagnosis not applicable

Illustrations showing how to identify the supraspinatus tendon in the transverse and longitudinal planes. The patient internally rotates and extends the arm (as if putting their hand in the back pocket of their trousers), this position projects the greater tuberosity anteriorly, stretching out the tendon from underneath the acromion and exposing more of it.
