Sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma

Presentation

CT head at outside hospital revealed a left sinonasal mass with cribriform plate dehiscence.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Within the left nasal cavity is an enhancing mass measuring 1.1x 1.2 x 1.4 cm (TR x AP x CC). Mass is seen extending near the cribriform plate and into the left olfactory recess. There is thickening and enhancement of the adjacent left anterior inferior frontal dura.

There is bony dehiscence of the nasal septum adjacent to the mass. Hypoplastic versus partially resected left middle turbinate.

Left anterior middle cranial fossa 2.6 x 1.1 cm arachnoid cyst. There is an exostosis involving the inner table of the left middle cranial fossa anteriorly.

Large right-sided septal spur.

Scattered mild mucosal thickening of the paranasal sinuses without air-fluid levels.

Case Discussion

This a case of an invasive squamous cell carcinoma. The tumor was resected and the patient underwent a course of radiation therapy. Follow-up MRIs have not shown tumor recurrence.
