Presentation

Abdominal pain for about 20 days. Suspected acute pancreatitis.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
ct

Complete reverse position of the thoracic and abdominal viscera is noted:

  • liver, gall bladder and duodenum on the left side
  • spleen, gastric fundus and pancreatic tail on the right side
  • apex of the heart towards the right side with right side descending aorta
  • right bi-lobed lung and left tri-lobed lung

No CT evidence of acute pancreatitis.

Collapse and some bronchiectasis in the left middle lobe.

Situs inversus totalis is a congenital anomaly when there is a total transposition of abdominal and thoracic viscera (mirror image of the normal position of the internal organs).
