Case Discussion

Prostate cancer with bone pain due to metastases. Patient underwent treatment and imaging with samarium-153 EDTMP, which is a gamma and beta emitting isotope.

Whole body scintigraphy shows multiple areas of hyperactivity, predominantly the axial skeleton, compatible with prostate carcinoma metastases. Two weeks after the administration of the radiopharmaceutical the pain decreased steadily.
