Fall onto the hand.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

MRI shows a non-displaced avulsion fracture at the dorso-ulnar base of the 1st proximal phalanx (insertion of the ulnar collateral ligament). Bone bruises of the metacarpal head and the radial sesamoid.

Ulnar collateral ligament ruptures or avulsions are the most common skiing injuries of the upper extremities, they are also known as gamekeeper's thumb
