Most of the petrous apex medial to the labyrinth is composed of air cells extending into the squamosal portion. Mastoid hyper pneumatization extends beyond the most posterior point of the sigmoid sinus, well-pneumatized temporal bone at the most inferior and medial portion of the petrous apex below the internal auditory meatus.

Case Discussion

Skull base hyperpneumatisation was noted although often asymptomatic, the patient may report headache, posterior cervicalgia, and tinnitus.
