There is a posteromedial slip of the left femoral epiphysis with widening of the growth plate and diffuse bone marrow edema of the epiphysis and femoral neck. No significant joint effusion is seen.
Normal appearance of the right hip.
Case Discussion
MRI features of a slipped upper femoral epiphysis, mild form according to SUFE-grading.
MRI may show the early bone changes such as a bone marrow edema and widening of the growth plate. It can be useful to rule out a contralateral slip, which is frequent in up to 20% of cases.
