Small bowel loop lipoma with intussusception

Presentation

Intermittent abdominal pain and bleeding per rectum.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Central echogenic structure surrounded by hypoechoic periphery giving target sign appearance of the bowel at axial images.

There is a small bowel lipoma, particularly within the jejunum measuring 3 cm in diameter is associated with a short segment of jejuno-jejunal intussusception. Proximal to this, there is mild proximal bowel loops dilatation.

Changes related to bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve) are incidentally seen.

Lipoma was surgically removed with grossly fatty appearance.

Case Discussion

Small bowel loops short segmental intussusception with a well-defined intra-luminal lipoma serving at the lead point. The accordion-like appearance of the intussucipiens is particularly striking on the axial and sagittal CT images.
