Gender: Male

Small bowel obstruction with a transition point at an incarcerated ventral supraumbilical hernia containing omental fat and a single loop of small bowel. The distal small bowel is decompressed. 

Case Discussion

Small bowel obstruction due to an incarcerated ventral hernia. Notice the gradual gradation of oral contrast (fading white - gray) as it mixes with intraluminal fluid, which is not necessary in this case to make the diagnosis but can be helpful for problem-solving cases where the location/cause of obstruction is less clear.
