Small bowel obstruction secondary to a Meckel diverticulum

Nausea and vomiting. R/O obstruction.

Patient Data

Age: 19
Gender: Female

Small bowel obstruction is seen extending until the ileo-cecal valve. A blind structure originating from the terminal ileum is identified, with slight wall thickening. However, not much fat stranding is seen near this structure, which could be a Meckel diverticulum. Moderate pelvic ascite is seen.

Case Discussion

Small bowel obstruction is a recognized complication of a Meckel diverticulum. The diagnosis was confirmed per-operatively.
