A cylindrical foreign body is seen in the cecum, in keeping with a patency capsule that has traversed the small bowel successfully.
Case Discussion
Patency capsules are absorbable capsules administered to ensure that a subsequently administered capsule endoscope can pass through the small bowel and not become stuck at a stricture. They may be passed in the stools or absorbed within the bowel. The positioning of this patency capsule within the cecum indicates that it has successfully passed through the small bowel.
