Small bowel perforation

Case contributed by Dr Praveen Jha

acute abdomen

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female

Plain study showed moderate ascites, pneumoperitoneum and pneumobilia.

Contrast study shows contrast leakage into the peritoneal cavity, probably from the duodenum (2nd part).

Note: If technologist performing the CT would have understood on plain study, he shouldn't have proceeded with oral contrast in view of perforation.

Case Discussion

Patient was operated and finding was confirmed post-operatively.
