Snail shell bronchial aspiration

A foreign body (snail shell) is located in the left main bronchus just proximal to its bifurcation into the upper and lower lobar bronchus. There is no obstructive atelectasis.
Case Discussion
In Spain, it is common to eat snails by inhaling the snail with the mouth while holding the shell with the fingers. In this case, due to the carelessness of the patient, the aspiration included the shell of the snail with an unexpected destination, the bronchial tree.
