Snake teeth - foreign body

Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Non-venomous snake bite to the thumb (reported to be python species). Swelling to the thumb and complained of pulling at least one tooth out prior to XRs being completed.

x-ray

Soft tissue swelling is noted. No acute fracture. Radio dense material adjacent to the thumb soft tissues consistent with snake teeth. Joint alignment is maintained. 

Case Discussion

The patient was managed in the operating theater and had several small snake teeth removed from the soft tissue around the thumb. The patient made a full recovery.
