Snapping triceps syndrome with ulnar nerve dislocation

Presentation

Snapping of right elbow during flexion of elbow. History of trauma to elbow in past.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

There is thickening and loss of normal fibrillary pattern of the ulnar nerve within the cubital tunnel with the nerve appearing hypoechoic in echopattern.

During dynamic examination of the elbow with full extension at 1st and flexion later on: anterior dislocation of the ulnar nerve out of the cubital tunnel anterior to the medial epicondyle during flexion. As well as there is anterior dislocation of triceps insertion over the medial epicondyle.

Two snaps were heard and felt during the dynamic examination/

Case Discussion

In this case, there is translation of muscular attachment of the triceps muscle and ulnar nerve anterior to the medial epicondyle during flexion of the elbow. The patient had a history of trauma to the elbow in past (not documented).
