One year history of nodular swelling on the antero-lateral aspect of knee - infrapatellar.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
Race: Indian/Pakistani

Patellar osteophyte

Ultrasound

A well-defined lesion is noted in the region of interest. It is between the distal end of ilio-tibial band and the lateral edge of the distal part of the patellar tendon. The lesion is separate from both ligaments. Lesion abutts proximal tibial cortex without erosion (cranio-caudal - 18 mm, transverse - 18 mm, anteroposterior- 9 mm).

It is hyperechoic with few tiny hypoechoic areas within. No calcification is noted. Lesion shows well-defined thin hypoechoic rim - capsule. No internal vascularity is noted.

Case Discussion

Features are consistent with soft tissue lipoma, which was confirmed pathologically.
