Presentation
Presents with increasing moderate thoracic spine pain for last 5 months
Patient Data
There is a T2-hyperintense solid mass located in the T9 vertebral body without mass effect. It affects the underlying anterior endplates of both the T9and T10 vertebral bodies and discs with acute inflammation depicted by T1-hypo and T2/STIR-hyperintense signals with central areas of Modic 2 changes. It contains both T1 and T2-hypointense peripheral bands giving a specific mini-brain appearance, best seen on axial planes. Also noted T2-hyperintense round focus about 14mm in the body of T8.
Case Discussion
It is nice case of an uncommon solitary bone lesion causing by plasmacytoma. Classic findings for this disease are demonstrated: male about 40 years old with painful spinal lesion with specific MRI
"mini-brain" appearance.
