Spina bifida: cervical spine

Chest radiograph for shortness of breath. This is the only radiograph and radiographic study on our PACS.

Age: 45
Gender: Female

What is the incidental finding?

Incidentally seen is spina bifida occulta at 3 cervical spine levels.

Mild cardiomegaly, normal pulmonary vascularity.

Case Discussion

This is an incidental congenital finding. Nothing needs to be done. The cervical region spina bifida is rarest: 2-4% of all kinds of spina bifida. Lumbar spina bifida is most common.
