Spinal arteriovenous fistula: S1 origin

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Gradual lower limb symptoms.

Patient Data

Age: Adult
Modality: MRI

The cord demonstrate high T2 signal and demonstrates enlarged flow voids on the surface of the cord.

Modality: DSA (angiography)

Up and over injection into left iliac system demonstrates an S1 radicular artery feeding a dAVF.

Case Discussion

Spinal dAVF arising in this case from the S1 radicular artery / conus artery, illustrating the point that the site of origin of the fistula can be at any level, remote from the flow voids.
