Presentation

Falls down from height

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
ct

Loss of height, fragmented fracture of multiple dorsal vertebral bodies ( D9, D10 and D11) and fracture of their left transverse processes.

The spinous process of D9 (fragmented, displaced).

Left pedicle and left lamina of D10, involving facet joints of D9-10 level.

The fracture line of D10 abutting the left costovertebral articulation on the left side.

mri

Loss of height of multiple dorsal vertebral bodies (D11, D10, D9 and D7), increase concavity of superior endplate, with hyperintensity marrow signal in t2-stir sequences.

Also hyperintensity signal of their left transverse processes, fragmented.

Slightly bulges of the posterior border of D10 into spinal canal, compressing the ventral aspect of the spinal cord at this level, which appears hyperintense in T2W and t2-stir sequences.

Focal discontinuity of anterior longitudinal ligament at D10 level, with slightly peri ligamentous hyperintensity signal in t2-stir sequences.

Hyperintensity signal of paraspinal muscles extends from D8 down to D11.

Case Discussion

Post traumatic acute spinal compression fracture at multiple levels, involving posterior element with cord myelopathy.
