Spinoglenoid notch ganglion cyst

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Non-traumatic origin of right shoulder pain for last few months.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

The rotator cuff is intact and shows normal echo pattern.

There is a well-defined, anechoic bilobed cyst in spinoglenoid notch region. It extends to supraspinous fossa as well as infraspinatus fossa deep to supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles respectively. Size in supraspinous fossa region is about 24 x 20 x 12 mm. Size in infraspinous fossa region is about 16 x 11 x 10 mm.

Supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles show normal bulk and echo pattern.

There is no subacromial-subdeltoid bursal effusion. There is no glenohumeral joint effusion.

Ultrasound findings favor a paralabral cyst of shoulder arising from spinoglenoid notch.
