History of fell down from the bus and twisted his right foot today morning, on examination deformity, swelling, and severe bony tenderness right lower leg.
Patient Data
Spiral fractures of the right distal tibia and fibula are seen with mild displacement.
Control XR after surgical Rx
The X-ray shows the internal fixation of the tibial fracture by intramedullary nail and the fracture of the fibula by a plate and multiple screws in good alignment are noted through the plaster cast.
Skin staplers.
Case Discussion
On follow-up the patient was re-evaluated in the hospital where it was found by clinical examination:
- patient skin on the right leg was intact.
- deformity, swelling, and severe bony tenderness right lower leg.
- no neurovascular deficit (motor function and sensation are intact)
- the tibial pulse was palpable
A decision was made that the case needs surgical intervention.

- internal fixation of the fibula fracture by a plate and multiple screws.
