Presentation
Car accident.
Patient Data
High grade splenic injury (grade IV) with areas of devasularlisation, active contrast extravasation and haemoperitoneum. The injury appeared isolated and the patient was relatively haemodynamically stable and therefore proceeded to interventional radiology for embolisation.
Distal selective coil embolisation of one actively bleeding vessel and another traumatically occluded vessel was performed prior to proximal splenic artery coil embolisation (not shown).
Case Discussion
High grade actively bleeding splenic injury treated with combined distal (selective) embolisation and proximal embolisation.
