Patient Data

Age: 75 years
mri

Hyperintensity signal of L1-2 intervertebral disc, poor delineation of disc endplate interface, with hyperintensity signal of both L1 and L2 vertebral bodies in T2W and STIR sequences,

Diffuse enhancement of vertebral bodies in T1-FS post contrast, with central hypointense collection, slightly anterior protrusion and rim retropulsion fluid collection into spinal canal, compressing thecal sac, and enhancement paravertebral region, indenting proximal psoas muscles.

Case Discussion

Hyperintensity T2W intervertebral disc, with destruction vertebral endplates, and enhancement surrounding central hypointense collection, with paravertebral enhancement and inflammatory changes, suggestive L1-2 spondylodiscitis.
