Spondylodiskitis and right psoas abscess

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Gender: Female

Erosion of the T12-L1 inferior and superior end plates with loss of T12-L1 disc height associated with pre-vertebral fluid collection measures 15 mm in thickness.

Left paravertebral fluid collection measuring 22 mm in thickness as well as right paravertebral collection involving the right psoas muscle measuring 38 x 27 mm which extends craniocaudally from the level of upper border of T12 to lower border of L2.

MRI of the same patient, demonstrates abnormal bone marrow signal of T12 and L1 with pre and bilateral paravertebral abscesses

Case Discussion

A patient with long-term abdominal and low back pain.

CT and MRI images demonstrate T12-L1 spondylodiskitis complicated by prevertebral, bilateral paravertebral and right psoas abscesses.
