Presentation
Inpatient one month after a lumbar spine surgical procedure that evolved with right L4 radicular pain and fever.
Patient Data
L4/5 spondylodiscitis with intervertebral disc height loss, endplates irregularities and enhancement, as well as soft tissue edema and enhancement involving both psoas muscles and the epidural space on the right at this level.
Case Discussion
This patient was diagnosed with a post-surgery spondylodiscitis associated with local spinal/paraspinal abscess on the right of L4 level (previous scans not shown). The collection was drained and the patient has presented clinical improvement since then. The current MRI scan still demonstrates a diffuse paravertebral and psoas muscles edema, as well as the signs of spondylodiscitis.
