Presentation

Injured in a football game with ankle edema and severe pain. Ankle eversion is the mechanism of injury.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male
mri

Marked thickening and edema involving tibialis posterior tendon and superomedial calcaneonavicular (spring) ligament.
​Also injury of flexor digitorum longus is noted.

Case Discussion

The mechanism of injury and radiology findings are in keeping with spring ligament injury.
​Likely partial tear in tibialis posterior tendon and superomedial calcaneonavicular (spring) ligament.
