Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder invading suprapubic catheter site
Presentation
Macroscopic hematuria in setting of malignant appearing growth at the site of the patient's long term suprapubic catheter.
Patient Data
CT kidney, ureter and bladder
Left sided urothelial neoplasia extending from bladder to suprapubic catheter site.
Bilateral malunited neck of femur fractures.
Case Discussion
Outlined above is a case of squamous cell carcinoma tracking from the bladder to the skin surface.
The patient is bedbound with T9 paraplegia who relied on a long term suprapubic catheter for bladder management. Initially presenting due to hematuria, it was observed that the patient had a large fungating mass at his suprapubic catheter site. Imaging showed that this soft tissue mass was arising from the bladder, with subsequent biopsy showing well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
