Presentation
Metrorrhagia.
Patient Data
There is an irregular circumferential thickening of the cervical wall, forming a soft tissue mass measuring 4.6 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm with parametrial invasion and extension to the upper vagina. It displays an isosignal to the myometrium on T1, slighly high signal on T2 with a heterogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences with restricted diffusion. No extension to the anterior rectal wall or posterior bladder wall. Bilateral pelvic lymphadenopathies are noted.
No para-aortic lymphadenopathy or distant metastases are seen on the CT scan (not shown).
Case Discussion
MRI features of cervical cancer (Figo IIIC1), pathologically proved as cervical squamous cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the cervix is the most common histological subtype of cervical cancer (80-90% of cases).
