The renal calculus fills and conforms to the left renal calices, resembling the horns of a deer (staghorn calculus).
Case Discussion
Staghorn calculi (also sometimes called coral calculi) obtain their characteristic shape by forming a cast of the renal pelvis and calyces, thus resembling the horns of a stag.
