At the site of pain pointed by patient, there is anterior cortical breach in sternal body. There is no local haematoma abutting it. Adjacent subcutaneous fat is echogenic favouring fat contusion.
Ultrasound is effective for diagnosis of sternal fracture as in this case. However, only anterior cortex of sternum is seen with ultrasound.
