Stieda fracture

There is a small bony fragment at the medial femoral epicondyle with the adjacent soft tissue swelling. The appearance is in keeping with a small undisplaced avulsion injury associated with the medial collateral ligament known as Stieda fracture. A minimal joint effusion is evident.
Case Discussion
Stieda fracture refers to avulsion injury of the medial femoral condyle at the site where the medial collateral ligament attaches.
Pellegrini-Stieda lesions are post traumatic ossified lesions at the same site which happen some weeks after the initial trauma with the same mechanism as the Stieda fracture.
